Stay stable when everything is shaking.

There is a lot of shaking going on in our personal lives, businesses, governments. God has allowed this season to come to shake old things from us to take us to a deeper place in Him so that we can go into a new future. At this moment you may be wondering about your future, the future of your children, especially since here in the US we have a major election coming up. On top of that we are still dealing with the pandemic which effects every family. We must be aware that many families are touched at a deeper level of loss than others. Some have lost careers; others have lost loved ones. Maybe you have not faced this degree of loss, but there are many that have and our hearts go out to them. There is so much false news coming forth that we don’t really know what to believe about the pandemic or anything else coming out of the news media. We live in an evil world, and every evil force is fighting to bring God’s kingdom down.  If there ever was a time where we needed stability for ourselves and our families, it is now.

Some look for stability by what they hear or see around them, and for those that do, life is very hard right now. If you depend upon your circumstances to bring peace and hope, you need to be delivered and set free.  God has a better way for you to live. There is a place of trust in the Lord that will bring you stability and strength. I can remember a time in my life that I was so discouraged with how my life was going. I realized that I was not willing to trust the Lord. How could I trust if He did not seem to be coming through for me? Many people go through this, and that is why people start trusting in wrong things that will never bring them help.  I finally had to make a choice to trust God even though my heart was not fully there.  As I declared “I choose to trust you Lord”, God and I began to have a deeper relationship as I released wrong expectations and chose to embrace all of God, trusting Him with my life. I am not saying it was quick or painless, but it was necessary for me to have a good future. Maybe you have experienced trusting in the wrong things like your job, a particular relationship, your finances and now that things are being shaken, you see that you must know God in a new way. In Prov. 3:5 it says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not to your own understanding.”

For those that follow God, there is a promise for strength and stability during trying times. Ps. 1:3 (AMP) tells us, “He will be like a tree firmly planted (and fed) by streams of water, which yields its fruit in its season; Its leaf does not wither; And in whatever he does, he prospers (and comes to maturity).”  Also, in Jeremiah 17:8 (AMP) we are told, “For he will be nourished like a tree planted by the waters, that spreads out its roots by the river; and will not fear the heat when it comes; but its leaves will be green and moist. And it will not be anxious and concerned in a year of drought nor stop bearing fruit.” I think this year could be termed a year of drought, which for a tree in the elements, would mean a very difficult, strenuous year. God never promised that He would not allow trying times in our lives, but He does promise that He will get us through if we will be planted by Him. In times of drought a tree’s roots spread deeper to get moisture. This is a time for us to go deeper in the Lord and as we do, we will increase and bear fruit even in the midst of a difficult season.

The Word of God tells us what we must do to survive the shaking that is here. Even as God has expectations to use the shaking time to cause us to go deeper into Him, the enemy of our souls has a plan to draw us out of our position of increase. We have a promise in Ps. 1:1 (AMP) – “Blessed (fortunate, prosperous, and favored by God) is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked (following their advice and example), nor stand in the path of sinners, nor sit (down to rest) in the seat of the  scoffers (ridiculers).” There are so many temptations during the shakings to become like those that don’t follow God. Where do you walk? Walking in the counsel of the ungodly will take you away from God’s favor. What path are you going down? If you follow a path that leads to setting up a movement or a person or a government above God’s kingdom, then you will be on a path of destruction. If you decide to join in with those that scoff or scorn others because someone has a different opinion than yours, you will be faced with being judged yourself. The times we are living in are filled with hate and lawlessness. Some want to blame and seek violence to get back, but these are the ways of the enemy to strengthen his grip on people. Jesus said in Jn.10:10, “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”

Do you want to stay in the right position? Ps. 1:2 continues, “The righteous man’s delight is in the law of the Lord, and on His law (His precepts and teachings) he (habitually) meditates day and night.” Your walk will be on the path that God chooses for you. Your wisdom will be based upon what the kingdom of God wants for your life. Your resting place will be filled with freedom to love and live from your heart…not holding onto offenses from others. This is the abundant life Jesus has promised. Make your choice today and thrive with the hope of increase and prosperity in the days ahead.
